Parenting DEF bone to bottom CTRL bone

Hi, I was just wondering what's the purpose of parenting the DEF bone to the bottom CTRL bone? I understand that parenting the MCH bones to the CTRL bones serves the purpose of when moving any CTRL bone, the corresponding MCH bones move along, causing the DEF bone to move as it's they are it's handles. And also, the root bone is at the highest hierarchy of parenting, because it's the root.

I also don't understand why we use the Top control as the Target bone instead of the MCH handle start as the Target bone?

The DEF bones do the actual deformation of the mesh because the mesh is parented to the DEF bones. So if you don't have the DEF bones in there, the MCH and CTRL bones will move the skeleton, but nothing will happen to the actual mesh.

So the MCH and CTRL bones will influence how much the DEF bones move, which is what moves the mesh

    Hi Jim,

This sounds like a perfect opportunity to test things, break things, and learn things while expanding your knowledge.
Often there are many ways to the same solution, often there is not.

Why not change around and see if it still works?
But the important part comes right after.....you have to think about why it still works, or why it doesn't.

That will really build your understanding.
