Download brush pack is missing.

posted to: Brush Basics

Hey guys, I added the add-on but the download brush pack is missing. Also the curves in brush settings are missing. I guess I will have to watch the updates video for Blender 5.

    Hi Eugene,

This course was made with Blender 4.0. Grease Pencil has been completely re-written since then. Blender 5.0 uses Grease Pencil V3.

It might be better to watch this Course using Blender 4.0. After that, when you already have a basis knowledge of GP, you can watch GP videos for 5.0.

Hey Martin, I have this issue with a video. I draw a stroke over it with a grease pencil. When rendered however only the stroke is visible but not the video. How do I fix this? I checked 'Depth' in the Passes and I also played with Back and Front under Empty and nothing.

    Hey Eugene,

I don't think Background (or Reference) Images are Rendered. They are just Empties, displayed (in the Viewport) as Images.

    Hmm 🤔

So there is no way to export a video with a brush stroke as an overlay?

You can use the, what used to be an Addon (Import Images as Planes), Add > Image > Mesh Plane instead. That will show up in the Render.

It worked! Thank you Martin 😊🙏

The only issue I have is that it came out small. The resolution was set at 1920 and 1080 in output properties though. What do I do to make it full screen?

Double-check your Output Dimensions (make sure it's set to 100%)...and make sure you don't have any Compositing Nodes enabled.

I don't know what else could cause this.

Output dimensions were set at 100%. That's very strange.

    I appreciate your feedback man!

Maybe it's just how the Image is displayed on your Computer Screen???

The video rendered is actually downsized and centered in the middle. Here is the iCloud link. I don't know a different way to show it.

What I am trying to do is, make a 2D animation and use in as an overlay for a video. Beside this option which I have difficulty with there is another option I haven't tried yet which may work better: Making the grease pencil animation in 3D and then transport it with a transparent background into the Blender Video editor on top of the video.

I don't klnow; the Video Dimensions are correct:

So maybe the Camera was too far away, when Rendering?

I don’t think so. The camera position makes sense but I played with perspective and orthographic in camera settings, still the same result.

    Curiouser and curiouser...

Are you sure you don't have any Nodes in the Compositor?

And switching between Perspective and Orthographic Camera should definitely make a difference.

Curiouser and curiouser... - I hear you man, it bothers me too, I am an absolute beginner so maybe i clicked on something that I am not aware of, I don’t know 🤷🏻‍♂️

Are you sure you don't have any Nodes in the Compositor? - I am not, how would I check?

And switching between Perspective and Orthographic Camera should definitely make a difference - I did by it didn’t make any difference.

Hi Eugene, switch to you Compositor Workspace, then you'll see if there are any Nodes there (there shouldn't be by default).

If I remember correctly Paul used some Compositing, to make  new Brushes and Thumbnails, that changed the Dimensions of the Output. Maybe they are still there.

    Hi Martin,
Correct, there were no nodes there by default, I checked. Let me rewatch Paul's video again, maybe I missed something.

    Hm,

That's unfortunate. We are still no closer to what is causing this.

Maybe a 3rd party Addon, that is messing things up?

Could you maybe post a link to your .blend file here (upload it to GoogleDrive, Dropbox, or so)? First go to File > External Data > Pack Resources. Then Save your .b;lend and then upload it.

Yeah, that's a tough one for me.
I am not sure about the 3rd party Add-on, it could be but it may take a while to troubleshoot, I downloaded 3 or 4 add-ons since I started with CG Cookie courses.
Here's the iCloud link to the file, maybe you can see something there that I can't.
