The timeline has gone through some big changes in Blender 5.0 and that confused me a bit.
Thankfully there is a video where Wayne is going over the changes to animation in Blender 5.0 here: https://youtu.be/xKFRRfzRN7E?t=410
Does this mean it is recommended to immediately start using the Dope Sheet editor instead of Timeline now?
Thanks
Yes, The dopesheet should be the starting point. They wanted to get rid of the timeline editor, but because the community voted that down they left it...For now.
HI Markus,
Yeah the Dopesheet/Action Editor is better for animation. It was the Geometry Node users that were REALLY against the time line being removed.
They don't need all the animation components but the do need the timeline. (which is actually what it used to be a million years ago before it was enhanced into an animation editor)
Fun Fact: They are all just the Dopesheet in disguise.
I wouldn't really recommend switching it to the Dopesheet until you need it.
(Shift F12) and press it again to toggle back.
Then you can toggle between the GE and the Dopesheet/Action/TL editor with CTRL+Tab
Blender will switch back and forth from the last used type.
Even Funner Fact: You can hit the hot key for any of the editors or window types again and again and it will cycle through them.
Need the Drivers Editor? Shift F6 that's not it, Shift F6 there we go.
