Another options for Mac developers is to run Blender from the Terminal.
You can do that with: /
/Applications/Blender.app/Contents/MacOS/Blender
That'll run Blender and note it is the path visually shown in the video. This is assuming you have not put Blender in some other folder or renamed it. Adjust your path accordingly :-)
I added the path to Blender (the actual app not the package that bundles it) in the Terminal, adding this to my .zshrc file:
export PATH="/Applications/Blender.app/Contents/MacOS:$PATH"
So I can just pop open the Terminal and type "blender".
