I am trying to set up a trebuchet, here is what I have so far

It works ok, but I am busting my head against the wall trying to figure out how to actually do and simulate the sling (rope and bag for the rock). I tried mixing hooks, cloth sims, and rigid sims, but I couldn't get anywhere.
Do you have any ideas on how to create a proper sim? Where the arm pulls the ropes, and the ropes pull the bag, which contains the rock, that will later be thrown mid air?
