Hello everyone
i saw on minute 4:45 that the lecturer used the Knife tool to make cut on the end of the Christmas tree.
why is that?
i also follow along and it made half loop cut.
why make half loop cut?
why not just make full loop cut around the tree?
why the cut at all? it doesn't make any different if there is loop cut or not, it just make more geometry?
Thanks for the answers!
That cut with the knife was to tighten up the tip of the tree, to create a supporting loop or holding edge for the SubD Modifier to not droop the tip down too much. Since you have lots of triangles and Ngons in that area, a loop cut will not go through, so you use the knife tool to make the cut. It is a super common practice.
Can you show me example, I don't quite understand why we can't just use loop cut
Ohh OK,
Thanks Martin, I thought I missed a step or didn't understand clearly what lecturer did.
Thanks!
