Candle Exercise

Ignore the awful fire (I had no idea how to make it D: )

So, I tried making a candle and a candle holder. I really liked how the candle turned out, maybe a bit too dramatic, but still looks good to me. The candle holder, on the other hand, feels kind of unnatural, probably because the surface is way too smooth, missing some noise or texture. I did try adding some, but since I haven’t really learned that part yet, it was mostly guesswork, and the results ended up messy. Since the focus was on the candle and not the holder, I just gave up. I’m sure it’ll make more sense once I actually learn how it’s supposed to be done.

Just saw the lesson after this one and decided to try adding a Volume Scatter to the flames out of curiosity, and well... It definitely improved things a lot. Not sure if that’s the right way to do flames, but it worked well enough :)

It looks really good. Not just the models and the flame and stuff, but the presentation and composition. Awesome work.Ā
