Are the methods up to date?

Hey, I have been watching the blender basics and the core fundamentals of modelling which is being taught in the blender 4.2 or higher version, but this part of the course seems to be taught on a much older version...... so whatever info i get from this course, is everything applicable to the latest version as well or do I wait for the latest part of this animation course to come out?

Most of what is covered in this course is applicable to new versions. Some hotkeys and UI elements may be changed/moved, but it still applies.

     a much older version

I don't think July of 2024 falls under "much older". Then again I'm pretty ancient. I've lived in 2 different centuries and 2 different millenniums :-)

This Course, like all CORE Courses are taught using Blender 4.2:

And of course you can read this short thread if you're wondering about Blender versions:

It's a good read that clears up all the scary thing about versions of Blender. Spoiler alert, Blender versions don't matter that much.

The only true workflow shift that could trip up a beginner is:

    Slotted Actions (introduced in 4.4)

    • In 4.2 and earlier, an Action was just a single block of animation tied to one type of data (say, object transforms or an armature).
    • In 4.4+, Actions can contain multiple “slots”, so one Action might hold animation for multiple data sources (e.g., both an object’s transforms and its material properties).
    • The UI looks a little different: you’ll sometimes see “Slots” dropdowns or sections in the Dope Sheet, NLA, or Properties panel.

For a beginner just learning the basics, this isn’t disruptive. But the video that specifically going over actions and the action editor I would follow along in 4.2 to understand what an action does and how animation data can be shared and used across your scenes. Once you have a grasp on that, jump into the recent release and experiment with this new slotted action feature.

Thanks guys for clearing up my confusion ❤️
Just kinda new to this software so looking at the UI felt like the version is much older whereas now ik it's not.
