Went to bring the sphere up closer "[CTRL]MMB and the bloody thing won't move. Even scrolling the MMB doesn't accomplish anything. Shut Blender down and started over - seems okay now. Is this a 4.4 glitch?

Blender has a Zoom limit and it's not exactly clear to me where ithat is; it looks like in a New Blender File, it Zoom towards the World Origin, but when you start Moving Objects around, that Zoom Limit Point seems to change in ways I cannot understand.
But what seems to work, is to enable Auto Depth in your Preferences:
This somehow 'connects' that Limit to your Mouse Pointer, so if you can't Zoom any furhter, you just release the Mouse and that 'resets' the Limit, so you can Zoom again. This only seems to stop working if there is no Object in the viewport anymore to Zoom into.
There is probably a lot more to it, but thhis is what I could find out through my experiments (and Googling).
