after i extruded several vertices i used the loop cut tool to place a new vertex. but each time it stay active now. escape does not work when i grab a vertex i still see the loop cut staying active. how do i fix this or what did i do wrong?
its been a while since i used blender so i still am strugling a lot.

Yes, like Omar says: it's a good idea to re-watch the Blender Basics.
Also, it is better to use the shortcuts, instead of the so-called Active Tools. For the Loop Cut and Slide the shortcut is CTRL+R..
Also, make sure your Preferences are set to use the Immediate Tool Keys:

both thanks for the reply currently i wont be able to watch the video's since i am in a bad situation, still dont know what kind of bills i will get the next few years or what to expect. but apparently i added the shortcut rightclick to the loop cut. after removing it, i could work again better.
for the time been i hope this will help to keep my mind of the bad things and get me back up.
and hopefully i can create something nice :).
