Alrighty, I just finished watching the course and have a few final questions.
- Does it matter that we join all objects with a union boolean? What would happen if I just had the objects joined but kept them as loose parts? The clean up process after an applied booleans gives me the hibbie-jibbies, so if it doesn't make a difference in the final product I would probably prefer to leave them separate.
And for that matter, do they have to be joined at all? Or would the export to stl make it as a solid piece for anything that is intersected?
- On the little error you got at the end with the slicer, saying your dowel was too small. Why wouldn't you lay it flat on the print bed to get more surface area? Is it better to have a taller than wider piece that avoids the supports?
- And lastly, not quite related to the lesson but with overall printing best practices... say I have several pieces that I want to test for design and fit. Does it make a difference in having them all laid out on the same printing job, or should I always print it one by one?
I guess I'm trying to understand if filling up the bed is a more efficient way (also running the printer less, but I guess for longer? 🤔), such as filling up the dishwasher is better than running a cycle for just a couple forks. If that makes sense, lol.
Anyways, I guess these are all my questions. I just ordered a printer, so hopefully I'll be sharing the course prints soon enough. Thanks for putting out a great course!
