Do I use this function in this exercise? I am staring over with Lesson 2. Since I can't see the cube in the tutorial, I select the cube in my outliner [which is highlighted in my 3D viewer.] In the tutorial, this reference file is hidden in the outliner. So, at first, I was lost!
In my 3D viewer, this now allows me to 'see' which blueprint to select. Following the Gizmo in the tutorial I am able select Front View to begin working. [ To keep the cube active showing orange, I need to assure both Overlays and Wireframe are ON. ] I get confused when he quickly switches blueprint views, but I follow the position of his Gizmo and continue.
Next, I successfully resized the cube's Top Side /Hat. Yet, to assure I am following correctly, I recheck my Outliner and 3D Viewer with his. [ Somehow, I remembered I skipped around, confused and ended up deleting the cubes top and bottom or front and back!]
At this point, I will make the two Loop Cuts for the notches. [ Select cube, scroll to zoom in, select topside /hat, then crtl+R, F9, 2, left click to confirm.
Next with both Loop Cuts selected: Do you mean in vertex select, highlighted orange? I think in edit mode, I chose 'vertex select for the vertices selected. Then press Num 7 for top view / blueprint. This returns me to Front/Face blueprint or Ref
Question: HERE'S where I am LOST! I cannot see what the tutor is doing, I only here him. Well, let me try..... I'll be back.
You know, I always say Press Start is tricky, it looks beginner but it's not really so beginner friendly. Since you just finished the Blender basics, I'd say your next course should be the Modeling Fundamentals, it's the next logical step:

You can come back to Press Start later, I bet Martin will agree.
