"Everything" Layer

Hi, while "Everything" Layer is for work on entire scene without disturbing the render setup.  When "Render Image" is pressed, the "Everything" layer will be rendered along with other layers.  What is the right way to exclude the layer from rendering?  I tried uncheck the camera icon in filter of the layer but as it affected all layers.  I also tried uncheck collections in "Everything" and I got a blank "Everything" image.
