Freshly Baked Modeling Challenge 16 - Lego Go-Kart

CGC Modeling Challenges

I love Lego. However, I will admit to being a person who prefers following the instructions to becoming a master builder. It's calming to sit down and build something.

I picked up this kit for my son and me to build together. He's six, and I will admit to having just as much fun building it!

This week, let's build some Lego go-karts!

I have started modeling a Lego Ford GT in Blender, does that count?
Not sure I'll finish over the weekend though, it's been a long process so far.

This time i tried to do it by eye, which made my car a bit longer. Now that i have uploaded the pictures here, i think my material is a bit too shiny but it also makes a clean look somehow. lego.jpg

I love Lego! For this project, I Googled what kit this model was from. Then I downloaded the instructions. After that I built the model in Mecabricks.com and imported it into Blender. Finally I modeled each part using Cubes and or Cylinders. B.T.W The Lego kit is 60400.

Oh, that's smart to look up the instructions. What a creative way to bring it into Blender. For others here are the instructions - https://www.lego.com/en-us/service/buildinginstructions/60400

I foresee other LEGO challenges in the future!

I have now finished the MiniFig Driver. This was a bigger chalenge. Legs, Hips, Head and Torso made from Cubes and Cylinders. The Helmet, Visor, Arms and Hands I used a Shrinkwrap modifier on Cylinders and a UV Sphere. These needed a lot of manual tyding up. Probably is an easier way, however havent used the Shrinkwrap modifier since making my Blender V3 Doughnut lol.

On the Topic of Lego GoKarts.  I made these last year using models I made in MecaBricks.com and rendered in Blender.
