■ Question
Currently am using Blender 4.2, so how I setup Bloom is different (via compositing).
I was wondering how come my bloom doesn't show with my moon (and other meshes that has emissions)?
Top-left = Moon shaders
Top-right = Compositing window (with Bloom)
Bottom-left = 3D Viewport
Bottom-right = Material Preview (Camera View)
Interestingly, I was able to achieve Bloom during the tutorial but am unable to replicate the same settings.
Any suggestions will be appreciated! Thanks!
■ Additional Info
Here are the shader nodes used during the tutorial for bloom!
Usually that would happen if the value of the pixel isn't high enough. For the bloom to kick in you need to crank up the strength enough so it enters the range for the glow to happen. Also the threshold value is important, the lower it is the more it relaxes the strength of the pixels it needs to start glowing, so more stuffs tend to glow. In other words, crank up the strength of the emission and lower the threshold a bit.
You have a threshold of 22 that is way to high. Try something like 0.8.
Aside from the threshold you could also check and make sure that under the material and render preview you have the compositor set to either always or camera so Blender know to actually use the viewport compositor. I might be switched off for some reason.
Good catch SFE-Viz also your node setup doesn't have a composite output node so it won't show when you render. You need the viewer node to preview it, but need the composite node for the actual render.
Hi OOmar Domenech, dillenbata3 & SFE-Viz!
With the combination of your solutions, I was able to solve the problem!
1. Threshold was too high, so I reduced it greatly.
2. Cranked up the emissions more.
3. Set compositor to "Camera"
Seems with Blender 4.2, the settings to change Viewport Compositor has changed.
Please see screenshot for final settings and result!
Thank you for the awesome helps!
Ah just for reference for anyone who does come across this thread, here are the things that I did.
