Translucency practice

Polybooks

Hello, so I'm trying the practice exercise and made this. I used the subsurface scattering and the glossy shaders. I think it looks close enough to a candle... right? It took me awhile to find the right combination with the shader mixer.candle.png

I don't know, Samuel...it looks to me, like too much light is going through the candle....maybe reduce the Scale (or the Radius) of the SSS Node?

The Mix between SSS and Glossy seems great!

It is getting there. It has the tells of candle wax, just needs a bit of tweaking. One thing though that is too clear is the low poly count, the jagged edges are super visible. One more level in the SubD should suffice. It's good work Samuel, keep on rocking.

dostovel Thank you Omar! Yeah, my mesh isn't great, lol! I was prioritizing the shaders. Shading is making a bit more sense to me now than it did before. With all the nodes, it always seemed too complicated.
