I have the "emulate 3 mouse button" option on in Blender. That used to only hinder my batch applying properties, but I had a workaround for it.
I'm having a hard time finding a workaround for the selection pop-up menu mentioned on 15:29. How is that function called in Blender? I think I'll just try and assign all those "alt" functions to dedicated key on my tablet.
Or maybe you guys know of another way to do it?
Hmm.. I noticed that if I left click the bone multiple times it will cycle through the bones that are on top of each other (I see the selection on the text up top on the left). Works better than hiding and unhiding bones as I work but still not very easy and obvious like the pop up menu. So still, if anyone knows how to go around my emulated 3mouse button, or how to find that function to add a custom key to it, I'm all ears.
Goto preferences(F4 or edit menu->preferences or for 4.x Ctrl+comma) click Viewport on left hand side. Scroll down to selection panel and expand. Then uncheck GPU depth picker. Now the selection list will show up.
As for hiding and showing bone groups I made an addon that I use for rigging. It's available at https://blenderclassroom.com just goto download page and download DDS Rig UI addon.
Awesome, thanks guys!
Dwayne, what does the GPU depth picker function do? Will I be exchanging something big for that functionality?
Right! I totally forgot the OS Button choice Martin, thank you! At first I dismissed it as an option because of muscle memory and overall hand positioning comfort. I'll give it a try for a bit though, it sure will be nice if I can pull that off.
Yeah GPU depth just speeds up the process of cycling thru objects under the mouse cursor. Some brands of GPU drivers cause a problem with the alt+LMB. That's why unchecking it fixes it, but slows down the selection highlight and cycling since now it uses CPU. Unless you're on an old system like mine you probably won't notice a difference.
Thanks again for all the help guys... I think I'll just work on getting used to the new way of navigating around with OS-Key enabled for my 3 mouse button.
I did try the holding ALT but it still didn't let me open the selection menu. All good. It'll just take some getting used to. Thanks!
