Hey there! I just bought the cubicity course on blender market. I was really excited to see how big the asset pack was, considering it's been out for a few years. to my surprise, the pack doesn't have any assets other then the CG cookie assets. When I searched the gallery for Cubicity, I saw lots of people had made assets that would fit the pack. I'm wondering why they aren't in there?
Hey MMatchbook,
The course wasn't met with as much excitement with the wider Blender community as you have after the initial release.
Why the assets were not added to the download file, is a question for @theluthier.
It is a very good course though, there are some interesting techniques used in the course, particularly with the materials.
One thing to look out for if you are using a newer version of Blender than in the course, 3.2 I believe, when you get to the Geometry Nodes section the Transfer Attribute node no longer exists.
You can however use the Sample Nearest Surface node instead.
Have fun.
Remember,
What happens in Cubicity, Stays in Cubicity!
I think, just think, not 100% certain, that the answer is Kent hasn't had enough time to dedicate to integrating things into Cubicity. Family health emergencies took a whole year off the calendar, Collabs, Courses, etc. I myself have always wanted to get my Cubicity stuff in and I too have never found a shred of time to do so. Modern life is hard in other ways that old life wasn't.
MMatchbook As Adrian said, unfortunately there have only been a handful of CUBICITY submissions in the year since the course was released. Of that handful have met the quality standard. I certainly regret not updating the library with these few assets, but eventually I had to move on and prioritize new course productions given the lack of activity.
I'm curious where you're seeing 'lots' of cubicity assets in the gallery. I'm only seeing 10 results when I search. Granted, Martin and Wardred's assets are among the few unique examples that have been on my to-do list for months to add to the official library yet. (I promise I will when I get some down time 🫣)
