Hi currently have installed on my Wacom MSP Blender 3.1. I have been learning Blender on this. But, I want to update my program to Blender 3.4.
When I do t his, will it save my settings, my work and stuff or will it overwrite all this and I will loose it all?
In theory downloading the 3.4 version should preserve all your previous settings. But for me for example it never has, I always have to re-enable my preferences and addons. I've never mind though, I like the fresh start. And yet for almost everyone I believe Blender starts with their settings carried over, I don't know why it's never worked for me. But remember, you can download 3.4 and you can also keep previous versions of Blender in your computer, just in case you want to go back.
Your work is not linked to whichever Blender you have installed, you wont loose your work since that has to do with the .blend files themselves. The problem is when you want to go back to a previous Blender version, since in newer Blender versions there are features that older Blender's don't have.
I don't remember if this works across all blender versions but I do know that when I upgrade from 3.3 to 3.4, the very first time I start blender 3.4 if I pay close attention to the "splash screen" aka "the welcome screen" there is an option to import all settings from blender 3.3
It does a pretty dang good job and importing the settings/addons/user preferences every time for me. But you only get that option "easily" on the first load of blender. There's another way to trigger it but it requires explanation.
.....and there is also a manual way of doing it too but I digress.
