subdivision surface

[SOLVED]I added the sub D to suzanne, and it disappeared.

After doing a google search, I discovered my computers graphics card is woefully outdated. It's so old that no new drives have been available since 2017

    Hi kkfay007 ,

Did you perhaps use the shortcut CTRL+2 to add the Subsurf Modifier?

Then you might have pressed 2 instead. This would have changed the view to the second Collection and when that was empty, everything disappears from the view; Suzanne is still there, but in Colletion 1 and that is hidden.

Or do you mean that the Sub D disappeared? Because then you may have applied it with Control + A with your mouse over the modifiers tab.

Can you post a picture or a screen cap video? Maybe upload the file for us to try and replicate it.

I just add Suzanne(Moneky) and then i use the Modifier subdivision. After that the Monkey is gone.

I even install now Blender 3.5 . Totoal Fresh and default setting.

    Same Problem.

Everbody can replicate that in under 1 Min. no need to upload.Seems like an bug comes from updates. I even dont use shortcuts. all with mouse movement. See also Video at 5.40 Min. In edit Mode i see an edge cross trough the monkey, look like a fail operation of the software.

try it pleas by yourself Omar, that can help me if u find the reason.

Our does it work with your software and u have Blender 3.5?

    Hi Ronny MMasterSW ,

    Everbody can replicate that

    Well, I can't.

If this were a bug, it would have been reported and certainly fixed by now.

In no Blender version does Suzanne disappear when you add a Subdivision Surface Modifier.

Please add a full screenshot with the Modifier, the Outliner and the 3D Viewport, something like this, but with the Monkey gone:

Hi, it was the setting by Blender using GPU by doing subdivision.

    Answer is go to

Edit -> Preferences-> Viewprot -> Subdivision -> DeSelect GPU solution.

Nobody even cant find out with a screen shoot ... really sad ...  What kind of gpu u have is the reason i think.

But Thank for your time and the will to help . Love it.

That would have been my next suggestion, together with updating your Graphics Driver, but I wanted to rule out other possibilities first. It's a bit weird to refuse to post a screenshot, when asked.

I thought it was a collection shortcut problem. You know, when you hit 1 and things disappear. But I'm glad is resolved now.
