This is the print for the character I recently completed. The Adorables team Medic unit.
Printed on a Bambu Lab A1 with AMS Lite across 3 build plates. Pink Glow PLA was used for the main body parts. White PETG HF for the clothing, and the other colors were PLA. I used 0.4mm hardened nozzle for the glow PLA due to it's hardness. And then a 0.2mm Stainless nozzle for the smaller parts and the base.
I spend a lot of time keying a lot of the pieces and ended up learning that smaller parts aren't worth keying and flat surfaces just work better. Having said that, the print turned out great and it has to be my favorite print thus far.
WIP images are included showing the pieces hot off the print bed, removing supports, cleaning and glue prep.
Final glamour shots were taken solo and with the other pieces I have completed up to this point. And I placed them all on "The Shelf" of glorious projects that I have completed.
Enjoy!
Awesome set Shawn! They indeed look adorable.
Quick question, what do you mean with keying the pieces?
Thanks!
Yeah, so keying is like it sounds. When you want to join two mating pieces permanently it helps to use "keys" to help hold the glue and align them easier.
You make a shape like a tapered trapezoidal shape that extrudes out on the mating surface of one pieces and cuts into the mating surface of the other piece.
If you look closely on the individual pieces I have the keyed shapes either sticking out or cutting in.
Thanks everyone for the wonderful support.
Super proud of this one. My first Staff Pick Trophy!
What do you mean it glows? Whaaat???😁
That's awesome.
Holy smokes, I loooove this!!! Makes me wanna buy a 3D printer as you’ve totally inspired me! Well done!
Loving the results of your physical prints!
I want to see a color version - even if it's just basic color - of your tall character looming over the Adorables team.
I nearly missed it, but an adorable night light? That really lives up to its name. It's adorable.
