The modeling on this is great! I question the texturing though. Without seeing other shots, here's what I'm noticing. On the "seat" part of the sled, the grains are facing correctly, going along the length of the board. I can't quite tell for sure, but the two side rails and the piece at the front from what I'm seeing it feels like the grain of the wood is going across the short side rather than along the length of the board. I had a woodworker tell me once that is not correct. If it were going across like that, that board would be more likely to snap and break along the grain, particularly if it went under a lot of pressure. I know it's a subtle detail, but it's paying attention to little things like that which will really help to sell the believabilty of the wood. (I haven't watched all of CRAFTSMAN, but I think Sascha does mention something along these lines too. https://cgcookie.com/lessons/texturing-wood )
Thanks for the feedback, you're right I'm planning to look at this properly because I too felt the wood texturing was off and want to push my understanding more and this model to be a finished piece. I am currently going through Craftsman so will take more time to refine the texture.
