It took me way longer to rig the doors than I thought it would.
They're mostly there, but the IK rig on the bottom boom for some reason isn't going straight down.
Instead it's moving the joint of the boom into the wall, so I need to figure that out.
Added a little detail to the hangar to give a better sense of scale. It zooms a bit quick, which I'm often guilty of, but I think it gets the point across that this is not a small ship.

I took a year off to mostly work on Blender. I'm pretty happy with how the manta-ship is turning out, but it took me a while to get the experience to do this, and it's taking me a good chunk of time to make the ship. I have a lot of detailing to do. There are going to be characters living in this thing - ala Serenity in Firefly, so I have interior spaces to work on.
I do intend to have a short flying / landing animation. I hope to use this ship in a larger project, but that flying landing animation would be something for a portfolio / demo reel.
The big challenge for me, aside from just not giving up before the detail is complete, is going to be the texturing and lighting. I have some basic colors down to differentiate things, but they're definitely not final textures.
Nicely done. Love the look and the rigging looks well done. I hope to see an animation coming? Perhaps? I look forward to seeing more of your work! Very creative and well executed! The bar is raised high here, I don't know how y'all here can do such great work. I got a long way to go....8^]
