Interceptor300SL Work In Progress

7 loves

I'm modeling a small spaceship that is going to be used on a short VFX video. The spaceship is going to be made mixing pieces of different styles: classic cars, rockets, fantasy spaceships, ...

This is the main engine, roughly based on Bugatti Chiron W16 engine.

It's modelled without subdivision, using the bevel+boolean workflow used by many artists for hard surface modeling.  It's been my first time using this worflow, as I'm more used to the subdivision+proximity edges workflow.

At the moment it doesn't have any material defined. So I show just a set of MatCap render screenshots.

Thank you. Now I have to use this piece to feed the rocket engines and have the ship flying.

      I'm doing a sci-fi hover-cycle.

I really appreciate even more how important, and sometimes challenging, it is to greeble up one's creations.

I don't know if you posted a final of your space ship, but this engine block should look awesome, however you integrate things.

Edit: Love the dual turbos on the side of the engine.

Jesus christ man, that is some major work there. It looks so smooth and yet there's no subdivision, wow. In the top plate where the screws are you can see a little bit of faceting where the light is hitting Not a big deal but something to keep an eye on. This is turning out freaking awesome, keep on rocking 🤟🏼

Yes there are some areas where render shows errors, here and there. I've tried to remove most of them, but some seem to be very reluctant. I will try to hide this errors with some grease and dust in the materials (is it cheating? 😅)
