Sure he had the best soup in town, but he wasn't the best conversationalist. Besides, nobody ever wanted soup when the air was as muggy as a ceramics studio. The people that would come might stop to get out of the rain and listen to the greatest hits of the 60s and 70s that poured out of his ancient portable radio from the mid 80s. If he was lucky they might get a glass of iced tea while they waited for the next bus, but he knew the tea wasn't great and that nobody wanted soup while they were drowning in sweat. That bus sure was taking a long time but the rhythm of the rain was bothering The Cascades more than Noji.
