The Jade Phoenix Empress Final

I did this on January 14, 2016 I have been MIA, so I thought I would post something, even if incomplete. Due to a major life change, I will probably be gone even longer. Here is the Jade Phoenix Empress! (I know not very imaginative :( ) I hope you like it! P.S. The hands are wonky I know. T.T Also, It isn't wholly complete. I think it still needs a bit of work. >.< Programs: Corel Painter 12, Photoshop, and Paint Tool Sai Time: 2 Haunted Honeymoon and 72 Naruto Episodes! So, about...29 hours worth of work...^_^

Thank you! Hopefully, I get back into drawing soon. ^_^

  • My sincere condolences about your mother. I feel your loss. It's been 11 years since my Mama passed, but I still expect her to call or drop by. Looking at your work through the knowledge of your life experience atm, it almost seems as though the outward serenity of the beautiful face of your Empress is contradicted by the hint of stormy skies in the background. All in all, I think this is a beautiful piece of work even though it's not finished and even though you think the hands are a bit wonky. I look forward to seeing the completed version.

  • It is easy to stress over perfection. We will always fuss over this little thing or that. She is quite lovely. I hope your world is beginning to settle around you. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Arg! "I agree. I did have the lighting on there right, and then I messed with some settings that messed it all up. >..< It is one of the reasons I posted it as unfinished, that along with the green part of her clothing. It doesn't mesh well, and the phoenixes looks like they were just pasted on. I want to try and re do it so it looks more like a cohesive fabric :S" That is what I wrote the first time, but it didn't fully post the message. O.o

I wrote more and it didn't post it! That is so weird! I think the green part of her clothing

  • Reading your comment about the empress feeling a little stiff. I agree with Mr. Perera about it fitting the mood of the scene. One thing that might help would be to add some depth of lighting to the emblems in the headdress. The lighting here doesn't quite keep up with the great sense of depth throught the image. ;) Me, I am happy with it. Just trying to help you be happy with it. I just love the colors and the way you rendered the silk. :) ;) :)

  • Anime and mangas are great entertainments and a very good way to change your mind and destress. :)

Thx for the definition of MIA (I'm actually French so I don't always understand all the slang). ^^'

Wow I understand better now. It's a hard life but one you can be proud of.
You will get your motivation back, just don't rush it. You'll be fine. :)

As for the "stiff" feel that you are talking about, I get what you mean, I see it too yet I find it normal and I thought it was wanted. Because of the nature of your subject : Empresses often follow strict protocols that require that stiffness and judging by her clothing and posture, I'm guessing she must be in a middle of some kind of seremony. ^^
Well maybe I'm getting a bit to imaginative. :)

lol. My friend asked me if I was recording how long it took when I was showing her WIPs, works in progress. I had just started watching Naruto, and I only watched it while working on this, which helped I think. When my internet wasn't working I watched "Haunted Honeymoon," which is a cute movie.

    MIA = Missing In Action
It's traditionally a military term that is use more commonly now a days in the USA.

I was a primary caregiver for my mom, so towards the end I need to be around all the time. I had to give up digital drawing, and didn't have the motivation to do traditional. I am still having a hard time with drawing at all, since it has been a few months, and only recently I lost someone very important to me.

I am trying to get back into the groove, but it maybe a while yet before I upload anything. ^_^ Thank you for your support. Hopefully, I will get my motivation back and start posting again!

As for why i think it is incomplete, it feels like it is missing something; it feels stiff. Not posture wise, just an over all feel. :)

  • Haha the "Time" section of your description made me laugh. ^^
I must not have a very critical eyes because your image is stunning to me (hands included) !!!
I tried to concentrate on it to find things that would help me understand why you don't seem that satisfied by your work but I could find nothing that's not worth being proud of.
I don't know anything about your life (I don't know what "being MIA" means), yet I wish for your recovery, hopping you get better soon.
Reading the comments, I understand for your mum and wish you all the courage I can (you have my support). I think that Wanderingmonk has soken very wisly.
That is why, even if I understand the need for you to take a break, I hope you'll be back as soon as possible.
Your art is always mesmerizing! :)
