Acrylic Painting MI002d Final

This is an image I hope to use as I learn Blender. The ultimate goal is to take the fold art texture and turn it into a 3D environment. This was an original acrylic painting mirrored in PS.

  • I have a weakness for art one can only influence and not completely control. I see fun potential as a background texture. Could blur it to soften the effect or not depending the results you are chasing. Blender offers a tremendous amount of flexibility. It would be great using this to influence the highlights and reflections in a gemstone or an eye.

Thank you! Use Basic Acrylics (cheap). Sketch pad paper works just fine. Fold to get a seam then open and put dime sized dots of paint on 1/2 of the paper only. Never both sides. Then fold the paper over and start pulling from the center of the fold out to the edges. You can take a drinking glass and gently tap the paper and introduce circles into the design. Great way to teach kids how paint mixes in complimentary ways.

  • I am loving this Michael! I myself am a former art major, in love with all things art. I love seeing work like this, non digital, made with actual pigments, by hand. Takes skill to get something like this. I am gonna start following you and keep an eye on your progress.
