A Little Night Reading Final

Do you remember the nights you spent in different worlds? Flipping through the pages almost subconsciously, absorbing the story in your mind. Losing all track of place and time. Your tired eyes start to shift but you can't go to sleep, not yet. One more chapter... one more paragraph... ~ I used photoshop (CS5) and my bamboo tablet for this, and tried to pretty much make this a digital painting, using little to no artificial adjustments. Only in the final stages did I add a texture over this, because it felt like the finishing touch to complete the atmosphere. I completely improvised the perspective of the books as well as the shading and lighting everywhere, without paying much attention to the rules, because that wasn't what I wanted to focus on for this. The atmosphere was crucial, everything else is simply a tool to construct that atmosphere. So I'll just tell you in advance: I know that the details aren't perfect. But this imperfection happens to be exactly what I was going for.
