Testing out some colors for a lightning bolt (cycle render with two render layers), this is the first project that i am using render layers to get a result. This one is similar to trick you can use in the blender render, 4-8 plains stacked and rotated to make a star with a material made out of emission and transparent. Gives you a laser beam effect, i have another picture where you can se the effect if you are interested.
