I wanted to back away from my usual style which is very much manga-centric and do something I usually don't do even when I back away from manga-style work. I usually always go back to studying humans and anatomy for sketching but never a full render in a realistic style. So that was the challenge I wanted to submit myself, even if I was deviating from the spirit of the contest.
