I guess I had a vague idea of the Frank Miller look when I was trying this. Probably mixed up with other comic styles that have stuck in my head.
He's a sculpted head with toon shading and freestyle lines. He's been re-topped for animation and a normal map applied (baked) which worked on the second attempt.
I've added mouth and brow shape keys so far. I've also parented the eyeballs to the head. That's it so far :D
