This exercise helped me learn a few things.
1.) I have a better eye than I originally thought.
2.) Once I got over my urge for perfection with the Blueberry, the entire exercise flew right by. Letting go is a good portion of any process.
3.)I didn't reproduce the background simply because I did the background on the Blueberry, and it was too easy for me. So, I decided to focus my time on what I wanted to perfect and/or learn.
4.) I am able to 'let go' more easily with objects, than faces. This resulted in me getting out of my own way.
All in all, the exercise is easy enough to simultaneously discover how hard and easy reproducing this still life can be. It also forced me to stop zooming in to check the perfection of every single detail. I had a lot of fun with this one, and I am shocked I was able to complete it in six hours. This includes my three previous attempts at coloring the blueberry.
