When I started working on Exercise 33: Knees, I decided to also draw the knee from the inside and the outside, and to also draw both left and right versions of all the different knee views - because I thought practicing these would help me build my drawing skills. To not overload myself, for now I am leaving out the dynamic views (No. 3) and female knee (No. 4) - I'll get to those some day.
For drawing this picture, I had to do some review of the structures of the knee. Sometimes I get too stuck on trying to draw the body structures correctly, but then I reminded myself that - despite the same underlying structures - every knee is shaped differently, and knees come in many different looks. One of the looks I like is the beefy and somewhat rounded look. I know Vonn has said that he often prefers the more slender look, and that's what was in the exercise sheet - so my version of the knee probably looks a bit different, but hopefully that's interesting to look at too!
One thing I am not comfortable with yet is shading. But there are some nice examples of shading on this site - and I hope that when people upload their versions of this exercise, I will learn from people's works about shading the knee!
