Elvish Authoritative Blade Hilt Final

This is a sketch of a sorta-evlish blade hilt that I would like to render in 3D some day. This is my first drawing ever, in my life, of a blade hilt and currently this is the best of my ability in sketching. A little bit about the blade; I wanted to draw a sword that's themed on fantasy, more particularly Elvish. However the sword itself had to be designed in such a way that the viewer could believe that the sword was magically imbued and yet ideal enough to be used in real human history. The sword hilt design was inspired by this picture - http://www.lostworldproductions.com/GabesSwordHiltWeb.jpg I liked the curved look of the hilt, in the picture above, as it could function slightly as a deflective hand guard however I felt that it was it too detailed. I believe a factor into making a sword look believable is it's ability to look like it could be mass produced well enough for battle or war. In my design the the hilt consists of a Shield Insignia, an Emblem (could be of anything, family crest, clan, magical socket) and the hilt body itself. The body of the hilt has some 3D structure to itself in that it has no fancy detailing that would waste the weapon smith's time to create. The blade isn't really shown in this sketch however the length should be almost Rapier like and thick enough to persuade the viewer it's anything but fragile. OR i could be talking out of my ass; i've never done this before. Any structural criticism would be lovely! Thanks for taking your time to read this and look at my work - electratix
