Eldorado Plate Final

A 3D-printed commission I made for my cousin after he helped me replace the starter in my car.

Coincidentally, his doggo is named after his favorite car: "Eldorado"!

It was really exciting to hold something in my hands that looked almost exactly like I designed it in Blender!

The biggest difficulty with this one was the swirly filigree. I initially made it with curves, and for a render it would have looked just fine!

But it needs to be converted to real, water-tight/manifold geometry to work best with a 3D printer. That final optimization is what took the longest with this project.

Furthermore, using boolean to combine everything so the 3D printer would slice it well was taxing on my hardware to say the least, but my rig pulled through in the end. :)
