Auto Union Type D racing car from 1938 (as far as I know). I'm not that crazy about cars, but there's something beautiful about this machine. Hunting for references was somewhat frustrating with bits and pieces scattered across the web, so the car probably has features from different types and models as well ;-)
Rendered in Cycles with 1000 samples, environment light only (I wanted the image to have a soft, sunset-like feel to it). Two planes used for asphalt and background, with camera focus on the steering wheel. No compositing besides some level adjusting in Photoshop.
