Hindsight tells me this concept could have been better researched, and would have looked less generic, but hey-ho. This is Asag, the mountain demon. In Sumerian mythology, Asag and some other demons got bored of doing their chores, and locked up the human's natural resources in protest. The human King eventually went to war with Asag, and defeated him. Asag was so ugly that the rivers boiled around him, and just the sight of him could make you ill. Poor Asag!
