Low Poly Space Station Challenge 2021 - Nemesis Final

Hi, Here is my entry for the “Low Poly Space Station Challenge 2021”. I’ve learned so much from this challenge, from low poly modeling down to time management. This was my first attempt at low poly modeling and I’m so pleased with the outcome. There were some mistakes I made throughout the entirety of pre- and post-production, but hey this is what a challenge is all about. My goal at first was to create a low poly Space Shuttle launching into space meeting up with the Nemesis Space Station for fuel transfer, however, due to the amount of work that was required, I’ve decided to rather discard that part for a future project. My love has been and will always be in character design. I took part in this challenge to prove to myself that I am capable of achieving so much more. • mausblends Thank you for your kind feedback Maus. 😊 🙏 The same can be said about your work too. I thoroughly enjoyed that cute animation you created. Very stylish. 👏👏👏 Looking forward to your future projects. 😊

  • duerer duerer Of course you may dear Ingmar. 😊 If memory serves me right, many years ago (the year, 2013, give or take a year) I watched a tutorial on YouTube (can't recall the author's name) about lens flare creation in Blender. I wasn't entirely pleased with his results, so I decided to experiment and invest some time into the Glare Node. This is where the word "self-taught" came to place. Andrew Price's tutorial on Earth creation in Cycles dwells deep into this topic. Some people think it's as easy as connecting a Glare Node and changing the operation to Ghost. There is a lot of factors that needs to be considered here. Lens flares are birthed by the value of light that is emitted from an object. There were certain frames that required readjustments due to the intensity of light reflecting from an object. There is a lot of going backwards and forwards, however if you are lucky and you have a simple scene, you may get away with little adjustments. Wow, that is a lot of writing, hope I make sense so far, Ingmar. 😊 The video editing as you have described is definitely an art of its own but not difficult to grasp. I know that CG Cookie has a few but I mostly again were self-taught in that department. Certainly, I have a huge collection of movie scores which I have collected since 1994. The score I used for this project was from Armageddon, composed by Trevor Rabin, titled, Fallen Comrades. Again I would like to say that your Space Station Concept was awesome! Take great care of yourself Ingmar and Thank you again for your kind feedback.

  • Congratulations man! Your station its amazing! Very realistic and stilyzed at same time! And the composition! Flawless!!!!

  • bc_griffin Do you have any recommendations on compositing and video editing tutorials or courses? My eyes are still glued to your video which has truely cinematic quality👍! All that timing and finetuning looks to me like an incredible amount of work! And syncing the animation with the sound effects and the music is still an art of its own 🎨🎵! May I ask you where the music is from?

  • bc_griffin Congratulations to your space station being staff picked 😀👍! Well deserved .😊👍!
